Autism and boundaries: a peer led discussion

Tuesday 5 May 2026
19:00 to 20:30

ALAG and Autism Hub invite you to an online evening event: Autism and Boundaries

This online session explores the topic of boundaries and how autistic adults experience and navigate them in everyday life.

We will discuss what boundaries are, why people use them, and how boundaries can play a protective role in social interactions. The session will also explore how cultural expectations, social norms, and etiquette can influence the way boundaries are understood and expressed.

Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how past experiences may shape current social interactions and expectations. We will also consider some of the challenges autistic adults may face when recognising or setting boundaries.

The session will include discussion of everyday scenarios, such as socialising in the evening, navigating small talk, and managing the volume and pace of communication. We will explore practical strategies, useful phrases, and ways to recognise and express boundaries more comfortably.

The session is informal and discussion-led, providing a space for autistic adults to share experiences, perspectives, and strategies.
