Autism and Ethnicity
19:00 to 20:30
As part of October Black History Month, ALAG and the Autism Hub are exploring autism, diagnosis and ethnicity. After a short knowledge based quiz, there will be a facilitated discussion that will cover:
- Diagnostic rates across ethnic backgrounds
- Lived experience- focusing on the black community, and black women
- Cultural responses
- Discrimination in public health services
We will also have an update from Ange on the specific Race and Equality work she is engaged with, and events to mark Black History Month that people can access.
After these discussions, there will be an opportunity to catch up with other members. There will be crafts, books, puzzles and board games available. You are welcome to bring along a board game too.
This event will be an in-person only event.
The event’s activities will begin at 19:00. You are welcome to arrive from 18:30, in time for refreshments.
There’s no charge to attend the event, but a suggested donation of £2 is welcomed.
