Research: Co-creating training for social workers who work with autistic older people.

Social care and support is increasingly important part of people’s lives as they get older. This is equally the case for autistic people. This event will look at the research work being developed paving the way for improved training for social workers and invite audience discussion.

We will be joined by Post Doctoral Research Assistant- Laura Lennuyeux-Comene and Professor Rebecca Charlton- from Goldsmiths University, who previously presented research on autism and ageing. They will provide an update on the co-developed research project that focuses on training social care providers to enhance the social care experience for older autistic people.

About the speaker

Rebecca Charlton, Professor in Psychology at Goldsmiths.

Prof Charlton’s research focuses on changes in later-life and the factors that promote healthy ageing. Her research examines cognition, social-cognition and mood in later-life. Her work also examines how ageing effects autistic and other neurodiverse people in terms of health, cognition and well-being. Rebecca works with charity partners to examine the factors that promote well-being in ageing and individuals with dementia. She leads the GoldAge Lab.
