Autism and Your Environment: A Two-Way Consultation on How Adaptations Can Support Wellbeing
Tuesday 7 July 2026
ALAG and the Autism Hub are pleased to invite you to an online event exploring how our environments can be adapted to better support autistic wellbeing.
We will be joined by Gill Scampton, an architect specialising in neurodivergent-inclusive design and a long-time friend and supporter of ALAG. Gill has consulted with ALAG members on a range of projects, helping to develop spaces that are more accessible, inclusive, and supportive of neurodivergent people.
During the first half of the session, Gill will share details of a current project and invite your thoughts, experiences, likes, and dislikes relating to sports and activity spaces. The discussion will explore accessibility, environmental design, and what helps make these spaces more welcoming and inclusive.
In the second half, Gill will share practical tips and ideas for adapting your own environment to better meet your needs. This will include resources and suggestions for temporary or minor adjustments, with consideration for people living in rented or temporary accommodation.
There will also be an opportunity to ask Gill specific questions about adapting your space, such as reducing external noise, managing echoes, or addressing draughty windows in listed buildings.
If you have a question you would like Gill to consider during the session, you are welcome to send it in advance.
Please note*- we have moved the next in-person session to Tuesday 04 August due to staffing constraints.
**This is an online event only and will not be recorded.
