In autism awareness week, the ALAG and Autism Hub monthly event was varied and lively in equal measure. It was varied with a mix of personal experiences, a light hearted quiz and contributions from both online and in-person participation. It was lively with passionate comments about identity, social interaction and personal rights.
Among the varied and lively responses, common points and observations emerged. On autism diagnosis and disclosure, every experience is personal and different. Each experience reflecting differing personal circumstances, age, environment and responses. There several comments about misunderstanding and assumptions made by neurotypical people about neurodivergent people.
